Matagorda County United Way Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Circle the Square 1

This year the Matagorda County United Way (MCUW) will celebrate its golden jubilee. Fifty years ago, several interested community leaders came together to establish a local United Way in our community. Since its incorporation fifty years ago as a nonprofit, tax exempt organization MCUW has been working diligently to bring together agencies and resources in an effort to improve our quality of life. By focusing on education, health and the creation of financial stability MCUW is determined to meet the needs of the community.

To symbolize the importance of working together and to commemorate its fifty years of service in Matagorda and Wharton Counties, MCUW will “Circle the Square” on October 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Bay City. Participants from schools, churches, service organizations, nonprofit agencies, area businesses and many other individuals with gather in the courthouse square to join hands and “Circle the Square.” United Way Agency Partners, Community Partners and other human service organizations and donor partners will set up tables with information and games. School bands and other entertainment will be on hand. Mark your calendars and plan to be there. You will not want to miss this event.
