Wharton County Day Of Caring Becomes Annual Event

Wharton Day of Caring

The Wharton County Untied Way Day of Caring was held April 21. Until last year, a single United Way Day of Caring included projects in both Matagorda and Wharton Counties.  Last year for the first time, a totally separate event was held in each county. This year was the second time Wharton County enjoyed its own separate Day of Caring. Volunteers assembled at the Boys and Girls Club of El Campo for a light breakfast, to pick up job assignments and head for job sites throughout the county. Next year, the kick-off event will take place in the city of Wharton with the kick-off site alternating every year between the El Campo and Wharton.

The event was made possible by generous sponsors that donated funds to pay for materials. They included St. Christina’s EMS, New First National Bank, United Ag, Mr. Tire/Rice Farmers Coop, Manske & Manske PLLC, DaVita Inc., Frito Lay, Pepsi Beverage Company, VFW Auxiliary Post 2438 and Stephen F & Kimberley K. Cooper.
